As a "by-product" of sewage treatment, China's sludge production has been rising year by year. According to relevant statistics, municipal sludge production reached 35 million tons in 2015. It is estimated that from 2016 to 2020, China will produce about 400 million tons of sludge, and the market size for sludge treatment and disposal will reach 189.2 billion yuan. Sludge treatment and disposal is a worldwide challenge. Currently, there are various treatment methods, but none can completely eliminate sludge without causing secondary pollution during the process.
Recently, the Changsha People's Social Security Direct Express program team of Changsha TV News Channel conducted special reports on representative innovation and entrepreneurship projects across various industries in our province. Dingjiu Environment's General Manager Jiang Liangjun said that initially they wanted to learn from foreign technologies, but found that they are not suitable for China's conditions. On one hand, the composition of China's sewage and sludge differs greatly from that of foreign countries; on the other hand, the cost of sludge treatment in developed countries is very high with large investment amounts. Therefore, they wanted to find a direction that is sustainable, solves the problem, and adapts to the national conditions - one that is innovative and practical, suitable for market development, and allows them to master the core technology of sludge treatment themselves.
Dingjiu Environment General Manager Jiang Liangjun said that the integrated sludge continuous pyrolysis carbonization furnace type invented by Dingjiu Environment is a subversive innovation compared with foreign furnace types and traditional ones. The furnace type can achieve segmented, modular treatment, treating sludge segment by segment, and each segment can control the flow direction of sludge, so this is the world's first.
Through such furnace type changes, first, it has strong adaptability to sludge, so sludge does not need to be dehydrated very dry before being put in, and it has strong adaptability to materials, including sludge, kitchen waste, and even garbage, all of which can be put in for treatment; second, because of the furnace type's characteristics, the thermal efficiency is very high, which reduces operating costs during sludge treatment, and in the treatment process, the entire equipment adopts a fully automatic PLC control system, enabling various control methods, with different parameters for each segment, and the quality of the charcoal product will be relatively good.
Dingjiu Environment Deputy General Manager Wang Yajie said that because cadmium pollution is very serious in Hunan Province, it has led to difficulties in selling our cadmium-rich rice. Last year, we used our biochar to conduct experiments on 32 early rice fields in Qingshanpu, and after treatment with our biochar, the cadmium in the rice decreased by 30% to 50%.
After the sludge is treated by Dingjiu Environment's self-developed integrated sludge continuous carbonization furnace, it becomes biochar, solving the secondary pollution problem that arises after previous sewage sludge treatment.
