On December 21, 2018, the Hunan Province Pollution Prevention Technology and Product Exchange & Matching Conference was held in Changsha. The conference attracted 80 environmental protection enterprises, 235 units with environmental protection needs, and 7 research institutes, with over 600 representatives in attendance. At the conference, multiple projects were signed, with a total contract value exceeding 2 billion yuan. Chen Wenhao, Vice Governor of Hunan Provincial People's Government, attended and delivered an important speech.
The opening ceremony was hosted by Li Xianxing, Deputy Secretary-General of the Provincial Government. Li Xianxing first introduced the attending leaders and main participants, and announced the opening of the conference. Leaders including Deng Lijia, Director of the Provincial Department of Ecology and Environment; Liu Yaochen of the Provincial People's Congress Environment and Resources Committee; Zhang Zhiping of the Provincial Department of Industry and Information Technology; and a representative from Central South University attended the meeting and delivered speeches.
Vice Governor Chen Wenhao pointed out that our province's environmental protection industry has gradually formed an environmental protection industry system that spans fields, industries, and multiple economic forms. This not only provides important material and technical guarantees for the development of our province's environmental protection cause, but also makes significant contributions to our province's economic and social development. At the same time, the contradiction between the people's growing demand for a beautiful ecological environment and the insufficient supply of more high-quality ecological products remains prominent, and the tasks of pollution control and ecological restoration are arduous and heavy. We must recognize that we are currently crossing mountains and rivers, climbing slopes and passing hurdles. To cross this critical period, tackling period, and window period, many difficulties must be overcome. To overcome these difficulties and win the battle against pollution, the environmental protection industry is a strong support and guarantee.
At the conference, 80 environmental protection enterprises displayed a series of "black technologies" for pollution prevention. During the visit, Vice Governor Chen Wenhao asked in detail about the enterprises' technological innovation, market share, and pollution treatment effects. Ms. Wang Yajie, Deputy General Manager of Hunan Dingjiu Energy & Environment Technology Co., Ltd., excitedly introduced to Vice Governor Chen Wenhao: Through Dingjiu Environment's fully self-developed integrated continuous sludge carbonization equipment, sludge can be directly treated on-site at the sewage treatment plant. Municipal sludge is pyrolyzed and carbonized through Dingjiu Environment's integrated continuous sludge carbonization furnace, reducing its volume to about 10%, completely eliminating the harmful sludge form to the soil environment, and turning it into carbon products widely used for heavy metal soil remediation, garden greening base fertilizer, metallurgical reducing agents, sponge city construction materials, adsorbents, and more. During the sludge carbonization process, a large amount of steam and hot water are also produced, which can be used for industry and residents' lives. The integrated continuous sludge carbonization furnace easily achieves "turning waste into treasure." Dingjiu Environment's Chengbei sludge carbonization project was successfully put into operation in July 2018. Currently, this technology has a complete advantage in China and also has strong potential in the international market. Vice Governor Chen Wenhao highly appreciated the technology and hoped that the enterprise would continuously strengthen technological innovation, accelerate the transformation of scientific research achievements, and strive to enhance its core competitiveness.
In recent years, the provincial party committee and provincial government have attached great importance to the development of the environmental protection industry, issued multiple documents and policies, and focused on building the environmental protection industry into a strategic emerging industry. The environmental protection industry has shown rapid growth for many consecutive years. The province's environmental protection industry output value increased from 47.3 billion yuan in 2010 to 228.37 billion yuan in 2017. The number of enterprises in the province's environmental protection industry reached 1,206, and the number of employees has reached 133,000. Our province has initially formed a development pattern for the environmental protection industry with market-led, government-platform, and enterprise-performance.
Chen Wenhao emphasized that at present, the province's ecological environment protection cause is in an important period of accelerated development. It is of great significance to strengthen the exchange and cooperation of pollution prevention technology and products in our province. Environmental protection enterprises, universities, research institutes, and enterprises with pollution control needs should cooperate closely, actively explore new models and new ideas for cooperation, adhere to innovation, continuously enhance core competitiveness, and strive to create the "Environmental Protection Xiang Army" brand of Hunan.
